Rap Is More than Music
This is a style that stays aside all the other music trends. Not
aside, but somewhat deeper. The reason is it is a reflection of
the race, the plurality of people united by roots and origin.
Rap is the culture of Afro-Americans, the continuation of their
language and traditions. Rap is a mixture of speech and music,
actually it is speech laid on music or beat it’s better to say.
And when we claim that people are united through music, meaning
every single human being on this planet, rap unites the ones
close to blood by music and then everybody else, either
welcoming or being hostile to a newcomer. What attracts people
in rap? Is it catchy? Maybe. Those non-natives to rap often
state the flow of speech is too quick and it is difficult to
differentiate the words. Sometimes it seems rap music is only
for those from the cradle. Foreigners are not invited.
Rap is classified as urban poetry of lyrical resistance. Thus it
is not the music for village like country music. It is the
gathering power of those united by music in big cities. The aim
is to resist the grieves because misfortunes are more dramatic
and numerous in urban areas.
Rap does not only speak to the mind and emotions, but speaks to
the society all around people, for people. If the words or
courage to say those words are not there, the subconscious takes
over and the Rap lyrics kick in.
But once captured by the beat, most people – mainly younger ones
- begin to hear the words, and the words may describe just how
they are feeling that day. If the boss came to work with an
agenda to screw everyone, some people will “feel” the words and
the beat, especially when enclosed in a car doing 70 on the
freeway. It’s something about riding with the music turned
full-blast that has a way of absorbing the mind and supplying a
means of temporal escape.
Some songs have innocent words that impress upon the mind to be
released later at the water cooler. Some choruses are catchy and
when sung by certain artist will stay within the subconscious
long after. Various rappers have unique voices that some people
find attractive or along the same vocal tone as their own voice,
which it makes it easier to sing along.
First goes the beat, and then goes the lyrics! It is not as
smooth and tender as classical music, not as glossy as pop, but
it has the scream of pain of real emotion of the world’s
harshness. One may even state that rap is the most pain
expressing music style. Those who sing it or it is better to say
read it revive their feelings not only concerning love, as most
of the other styles do. Their message is about life and the
problems, especially the ones of the Afro-American people. The
music of pain and oppression, rap is a remedy to the latter. Let
all the pills be like that!
Assembling Elliptical Trainers — What You Must Know For a Trouble-Free Experience
It’s not rocket science, but…
One thing that you may not be aware of, is that regardless of where you purchase your elliptical trainer, you will need to put the thing together yourself. Some merchants provide in-home assembly for an additional charge, but in most cases it’s just you and a packet full of nuts and bolts.
No need to get too stressed out about it though. If you have any experience at all with a screw driver and putting together assemble-it-yourself furniture you should be fine. The most difficult part is typically lugging the box from your front porch to the room where you will assemble it. Remember, the better the elliptical trainer, the heavier it is going to be.
Some folks complain about certain trainers being too heavy and the unpleasant experience they had moving it. This really isn’t a valid complaint since the extra heft is what you should expect in a good machine. So be sure that you have someone help you move it.
There’s no sense in injuring yourself attempting to move your ticket to better health and fitness!
Be prepared in case there are some surprises
In most cases the assembly of your new elliptical trainer should go forward without too many hitches. On occasion you may encounter missing hardware or damaged parts. It’s very important to inspect the box and it’s contents immediately after delivery to determine if there is any damage. Contact the shipping company if you suspect the damage occurred during shipment.
If there are damaged pieces that appear to have been shipped from the manufacturer that way, then contact the manufacturer either by the phone number provided in the instructions or via email from their Web site.
Many of the higher-end elliptical trainers come shipped within a wooded frame around the components of the machine. You will need to unscrew the wooden pieces of the shipping frame to get at the parts. It may help to have extra tools handy to assist with this process.
If there is any missing hardware such as nuts and bolts you should also contact the manufacturer. However, in the mean time a little improvisation can probably get you by. You may have equivalent parts in your workshop or can find them at your local hardware store. Just be certain that any replacements are an equivalent substitution for the original part – you don’t want to risk damage to the elliptical trainer or worse, injury, by using an inappropriate part! Also keep in mind that you will probably void the manufacturer’s warranty by using substitute parts. So be sure to get replacements and install them once they arrive.
In case your elliptical trainer shipped without the assembly instructions or manual, you can usually download the manual from the manufacturer’s Web site.
The right tools for the job
Most all elliptical trainers, regardless of price, come with the necessary tools for assembly. In many instances this is just a hex wrench in the shape of a screw driver to tighten the screws and bolts. Sometimes a ratchet set can come in handy to tighten nuts.
It helps to have help
As mentioned above, having help in moving the elliptical trainer box is a good idea. The heaviest part of an elliptical trainer is its drive assembly. It’s heavy because it contains the flywheel. Depending on the design of the elliptical trainer, it may be necessary to have someone hold up the drive assembly while the other attaches it to the frame.
Be prepared to spend around an hour putting your elliptical trainer together. You may do it in less time or it may take you longer. The important thing is to take your time and do a quality job.
Hire out the dirty work
As mentioned above, some merchants provide in-home assembly of the elliptical trainers they sell for an additional fee. The other alternative is to enlist the services of an exercise equipment assembly company. Check your local phone book or the Web to find equipment assembly companies near you.

Motivation: 3 Powerful Quotes from Golfer Tiger Woods
I am not a golfer, unless you count an occasional game of putt-putt. I’m not even a fan of the game. But I am a fan of excellence, and so the following quotes by golfing great Tiger Woods recently caught my attention:
“I smile at obstacles.”
“My will can move mountains.”
“I will do it with all my heart.”
This is a great approach to solving problems and facing challenges in life.
“I smile at obstacles.”
What a novel approach. Most of the time, we cringe, avoid and complain instead. Unfortunately, none of that solves a problem. Often, problems just get worse.
Smiling at obstacles means we know that we’re bigger than the problems facing us, because we know we will learn and become stronger and wiser through solving them.
Instead of complaining about challenges, we can see them as gifts. Most every problem or challenge comes with a gift in its hands. The gift is what we will learn through solving the problems and facing the challenges.
Several years ago I worked in a drug rehab program for teenagers. Late one evening, as I talked with one of the staff about the crises of the day, I said “You know what, whatever we do in the rest of our careers will have to be easier than this.” Scott’s response was, “Either that, or this is just preparing us for what’s next.”
Scott was right. Problems and challenges can either define you or refine you. When you embrace the situation in front of you, you are refined like gold.
“My will can move mountains”
This does not mean that our will is the be all and end all of any given situation, or that our will can get us anything we want. Frankly, if humans are the be all and end all, we are all in big trouble. What this quote means, I believe, is that when we focus our energy on the problems before us, they are in trouble. The ability to understand where you are, look at where you exactly want to go, create a plan to get there, and then work the plan for all you are worth brings incredible rewards.
Focused action can move the mountains in front of you. But too many times we are like the frog in this riddle: “Three frogs were sitting in a pond on a lily pad when one decided to jump off. How many frogs were left?” Most people say two. The correct answer is three, because while the frog may have decided to jump, he did not jump off.
While it’s important to decide to do something, focused action is the only way to get the results you want.
“I will do it with all my heart”
I believe most people sleepwalk through life. Just stand outside a large office building on a Monday morning. You’ll see people in trances, sleepwalking through their day.
Yet when we bring all our heart to any activity, we come alive and actually have the opportunity to live the way we say we want to.
All of us know folks who brings their whole heart to what they do. Don’t you love being around them?
Why not be one of those people yourself?
When we bring our whole heart to a problem or challenge, it is easier to solve, and we just might have fun along the way.
There is a saying that there is a time in the life of every problem or challenge when it is big enough to notice, and small enough to solve easily.
When you bring these three skills to the table, you will notice problems early, solve them easily and grow more than you ever thought you would.

Can Hoodia Become America’s Version Of the “French Paradox”?
Over the past year or two there has been diet backlash in
America. We’re finding that “diets” don’t work. Just the sound
of the word diet, sends some into sheer terror. It conjures up
thoughts of tasteless lettuce and constant hunger pangs. Here we
are tracking and counting carbs, fat and calories, meanwhile
those in Europe continue to eat creamy sauces, buttery laced
breads and rich desserts and still stay slim and trim. This fact
has actually been given a term, it’s called the French Paradox!
Why is it that Europeans can eat such wonderful foods, not gain
weight, yet we Americans have to live on rabbit food to stay
slim?
Is there a difference in our genes?
No, there is a difference in the QUANTITY of the foods eaten.
You see while Americans super size everything, our European
counterpart eat smartly with smaller portions, so they can
basically what ever they like. What may also surprise you is the
fact that we not only have larger food portions, but even our
bottles of soda are twice the size of those sold in France and
England. Did you know that a standard American muffin is 2 and
1/2 times the size of a muffin in France? You’re talking the
difference of an extra 600 to 725 calories just at breakfast,
and how many people do you know that have a muffin just as a
quick snack? Did you also know that American women consume
almost 1,500 calories more per day than a woman living in Paris?
Then to that add the frightening statistic that 40% of our
calories come from fat and sugar, and then you no longer have to
wonder why we are getting so fat and unhealthy.
Yet, because we are so spoiled by eating such large quantities
of food, we feel as though we are starving if we drastically cut
back to lose weight.
Enter Hoodia. Hoodia is a natural product that can help you eat
less without being hungry. There are no stimulants in Hoodia, no
known side effects, and has worked for 1000’s of years for the
San People of South Africa. Hoodia contains a molecule called
P57 that is similar to glucose, yet is 1000,000 times stronger.
This wonder molecule tricks the brain into believing that the
stomach is full and satisfied.
In tests taken, those taking 3 grams (3,000 mgs) of Hoodia daily
eat approximately 1,000 to 1,500 calories less per day but are
totally satisfied without any hunger. And unlike previous weight
loss products, Hoodia does not cause any jitters, Hoodia does
not keep you up at night and can be taken right before bed time.
Can Hoodia train us to eat less like out European counter parts?
I personally use Hoodia and have been blown away by my results.
I eat what ever I like, when ever I like, yet I continue to lose
weight. WHY? Now I am naturally eating less food. I am not
hungry, and if I do have a craving for chocolate, I am satisfied
with a small piece. I no longer feel the need to eat the
complete chocolate bar. By not feeling hungry, I have found that
I choose my foods more carefully, relying on fresh fruit, lean
meats and vegetables.
If you feel deprived by eating smaller portions of food when
dieting or compelled to snack all day long because you are
hungry, then Hoodia could be exactly what you are looking for.
Hoodia usually starts working the first day, but may take up to
a week for some, before starting to feel its full benefits.
Although Hoodia is considered a food in Africa and in many other
countries, in the US, a disclaimer stating that statements
regarding Hoodia have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug
administration and that Hoodia product web sites are not
intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, is
always shown on the product page. You will also see a suggestion
to consult your physician before beginning any new diet or using
any diet product.
Can Hoodia be called the American Paradox? Only time will tell,
but I do know that Hoodia works for me!
Management – Mary Poppins Style!
Mary Poppins describes a style of management which has for too long been hidden in many
businesses and organisations.
Think about it.
She’s “Practically
perfect in every way” – is that not what we want from a boss? Someone who is
almost brilliant at everything – yet with a hint of not being absolutely
perfect? Someone we can trust and depend on – yet who is truly human with is and falls down occasionally too?
And then there’s
the cut to the chase with, “Bert, what utter nonsense. Why do you always complicate
things that are really quite simple.” How often do we, often inadvertently (especially
the more senior an executive we are), make things so, so complex. Recently working
with a client who already had over 125 books on systems, when all they were doing
was selling things to people…
And then there’s all the fun, like…
you can say it backwards, which is dociousaliexpilisticfragicalirupus, but that’s
going a bit too far, don’t you think?”
think perhaps just a hint of a smile at yourself, Mary, in that…, as Bert says
“Indubitably.!” Not forgetting either, that if we look hard enough, with the right
viewpoint…
of fun. You find the fun and – SNAP – the job’s a game!”
Above all, we want to remember how easy it is to fall into the work, work,
work ethic of Mr George Banks, with his
with giants
To carve his niche in the edifice of time.
Before the mortar of
his seal
Has a chance to congeal
The cup is dashed from his lips
The flame
is snuffed a-borning
He’s brought to wrack and ruin in his prime.”
can do it George, you can…and, of course, in the end, George does it!
In the end, like all great bosses, with their discipline, focus, vision, and above
all sense of fun, they win us all round and as we move in to greater things, like
Mary, they become loved, as they say…
Don’t stay away too long”
…”spit-spot!”…

Christmas – Protests in Australia to Hide Beliefs – Where’s the Democracy!
In Australia the Prime Minister, Mr John Howard has advocated publicly for shopping centers to restore nativity scenes. Many centers have removed them in fear of being targeted by other religions as being offensive in the now multicultural society.
Christmas has a strong heritage in Australia and is part of the cultural history. Today arguments have surfaced calling for Christmas to be banned from public places in order not to offend people of other faiths or non-believers. There are many who now believe Christmas should be down-played.
It was recently reported on the television that one school Principal wrote a letter of apology to one angry parent after the word “Christmas” appeared in the school newsletter. Other schools have stopped singing Christmas carols while others have no Christmas displays so not to offend other denominations. Where is the democracy and right to free speech with all this fear being relayed about a long lived community event?
The PM, Mr Howard has come out in strong defense passionately upholding the right for religion at Christmas saying it’s part of the Australian way of life. Australian’s have a long history of celebrating Christmas which includes a live telecast of ‘Carols by Candlelight’ seen throughout the nation as one of the most popular and joyous television events of the year.
Australian’s shouldn’t have to apologize for their heritage or celebrations. It’s part of Australia’s history and culture and it’s the countries principal faith. Political correctness does not need to go mad! After all Christmas is a time where the community and all people of all faiths are invited to come together in joyous celebrations.
Long live Christmas and let’s remember its real meaning. It’s a time to forget our differences and find common ground. A time to display the symbolic meaning of Christmas: unity, peace, forgiveness, love, celebration of life and the extended hand of friendship to all in our community.

Open Source Software (OSS) and Its Uses
What is Open Source Software?
Open Source Software (OSS) is software that is available under a special license that allows everyone to access the program code as well as the executable program. This means that anyone is able to edit the program code and therefore customise the software for their own needs.
This ability to access the source code is protected by the license under which the software is released. There is a great many Open Source licenses, but they all have one thing in common, they protect the right of the user of the software to access and modify it in any way they desire.
This ability to modify applications is in direct contrast to the Closed Source Software model. In Closed Source only the creator of the application has access to the source code, and therefore, only the creator is able to modify the application.
Being able to change the way an Open Source Software application operates is critical in many business environments. No two businesses are identical and therefore it is unlikely that any one piece of software will satisfy the needs of all potential users. Without the ability to modify their software a company is restricted in its operations by that software.
While it is true that no two businesses are identical, it is also true that there are a great many common business practices that are repeated across organisations. These common practices can be well served by “standard” software. The remaining practices, those that are different from competitors are, typically, the ones that give a business an advantage in the marketplace.
Since these non-standard practices are key to the organisations success it is critical that any software solutions adopted by the company also support these non-standard processes. It is in this need to adapt software to a companies specific needs that makes Open Source Software attractive. Since the company has access to the source, the application can be freely adapted to suit the unique requirements of each user.
Who Pays for Open Source Development?
The ability to customise software is critical to allow an organisation to continue to improve their business processes, but how does a company afford to pay for such customisations?
One of the side effects of allowing any user access to the source code is that the cost of acquiring the software in the first instance is massively reduced. In most cases the source code is available for no cost. This enables the user to divert resources normally allocated to pay software license fees into enhancing the software.
A successful Open Source Software project has a large community of software developers. Many of these developers work as independent contractors and can be employed to customise the software, alternatively, if a company has internal developer resources, they can leverage those skills to perform the customisations.
Does it Really Work?
This all sounds fantastic, but does it really work? Are there Open Source Applications in use in the real world?
Here are a few facts to convince you that it most certainly does work:
- Around 70% of web sites are served by the Open Source Apache HTTPD server.
- In a 2002 survey it was found over 31% of UK and nearly 42% of German companies were using or planning to use OSS.
- In 2001, Debian (an Open Source Operating System), contained over 55 million lines of code and was estimated to have consumed over 14,000 person years in development time. That is a development cost of around 1.89 Billion Dollars (US) yet it is still available with no license fees.

How the Brave Bride Ebays Her Way to a Happy Wedding Day
What’s the one thing that usually stands between a bride and groom and the wedding of their dreams?
You didn’t even have to think, did you?
Money!
Well, in my neverending quest to help couples save money and have their dream days, I have been checking out America’s online auction obsession.
I chose Ebay for my research, because Ebay is the most well-known of the auction sites, and I personally have had excellent experience with Ebay sellers.
Here’s what I found out:
Even the bride and/or groom who is not all that daring can find wonderful bargains on many wedding essentials online. It doesn’t hurt, if you have the time, to try your hand at bidding on items. Often, you can get wonderful savings that way. Just make sure you’ve done your research and know what the average price should be, and don’t bid above it. But if you don’t want to bother with that, just check the items that say “Buy it now,” and pay that price. I checked only “buy it now” prices, and found wonderful deals on decorations, silk flowers, and favors. For example, I found 72 white faux pearl flowers perfect for corsages and decorating for $9.99. These flowers started me thinking about how charming a wrist corsage would be with a simple, elegant wedding gown in place of a traditional bouquet. There were also 84 cream or white silk roses at $9.99 for the cream and $13.00 for the white. These would be enough to make bouquest for a bride and all her bridesmaids, and they were beautiful flowers. For the flower girl and table top decoration, one Ebay store offered 1000 red silk rose petals for $13.50.
For the slightly more adventurous bride, there was wonderful bridal jewelry for less than $20, and veils for $9-$20.00.
But the bravest, most daring bride could have the greatest savings of all on one of the biggest expenses for most people. I’m talking about the dress. Yes, you can find wedding dresses on Ebay, and not just the ones that have been worn, either. I saw new dresses ranging from a simple, elegant design for $60 to a beautiful white & ivory Renaissance style gown for $110.00. There were also many gowns for $500 and up, but for those, unless you are going to bid and try to win them, I think you should go to a salon and get all the personal fitting and pampering that price deserves. With the less expensive dresses, you may have to have them professionally altered to fit, but at less than $200 you are still getting a bargain.
Of course, you have to consider the shipping costs for any of these bargains, but a savvy shopper should still check out Ebay or the other online auctions as yet another option to get what you want and not break the bank for your wedding day.

Menopause: Are You Ready?
Menopause is a term that is used to describe the change of life that women go through. In technical terms, it means the stopping of menses or cycles of the body. Today, it is used to as a way to describe the entire cycle of how the body’s reproductive system shuts down. It is a state in the natural female reproductive cycle.
Menopause happens when the body stops producing the hormone called estrogen. The body needs to adjust to this, though, and can have difficulty with doing so. In some cases, menopause symptoms will happen. These can be things such as hot flashes and palpitations. They can also be dangerous when there are increased levels of anxiety and depression. Many women will have fast irritability, mood swings and have a hard time concentrating. And, there will be other symptoms including an urgency to urinate, vaginal dryness and eventually the smaller, less frequent menstrual periods. All of this happens, on average, at the age of 50.
For some individuals, menopause can happen earlier or later. Individuals that have faced serious illness or those that have gone through chemotherapy are more vulnerable to premature menopause which is a condition in which menopause happens before the age of 40.
Is There Hope For These Symptoms?
Many women face the symptoms of menopause just hoping that they will go away. But, there may be help out there to keep you from losing your mind. One of the most common helpful steps is the use of Hormone Replacement Therapy. This can help to reduce osteoporosis which is the weakening of bones. This happens in many women post menopause in which the bones get severely weakened. This treatment can also help in reducing the risk of heart disease as well. On the other hand, many women find that menopause is not something that is wrong with the body, but a natural, normal process that is happening. And, for many, the risks of conditions such as breast cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and stroke are significantly higher with the use of Hormone Replacement Therapy and therefore the treatment is not worth it.
There are other treatments that can help patients as well. In some cases, such as perimenopause, birth control pills can be used to treat some symptoms. ERT is estrogen alone treatments in which women that have had a uterus removed. In any case, it is important that you and your doctor talk about your needs and concerns about menopause before they become problems for you.
What Can You Do To Stay Healthy?
Natural or not, menopause is not an easy time for most women. It is, after all, the completion of a cycle. During puberty the body begins the cycle which ends after menopause. But, there are several things that you can do to improve your situation as well as improve you ability to fight menopausal symptoms.
- A well balanced diet is an important feature. For many, a diet that is low in fats and cholesterol is very important. Total fat intake should be at a moderate level. You should eat a high fiber diet that is filled with vegetables, fruits and whole grain types of food. It is necessary to provide the nutrients that your body needs such as vitamins and minerals. Calcium is a very important aspect too.
- Just stop smoking. Smoking constricts the blood vessels leaving your body more prone to problems down the line.
- If you are overweight or obese, it is necessary and good for you to lose the weight.
- If your blood pressure is too high, you should talk to your doctor about getting a medication to lower it as this too can help with heart disease factors.
- Get your exercise too. That means things like walking and running or even dancing at least three days per week.
When dealing with menopause, as most women will have to do, it is necessary to get your doctor into the picture. He or she can help you to know what your specific needs are and what you should be doing to care for yourself. Those at risk of weakened bones or heart conditions should insure that their doctor is aware of any hereditary or otherwise involved conditions. Menopause may be a big pain, but it is a fact of life.

How To Repair Your Car’s Power Windows
As you’re driving down the turnpike and approaching the tollbooth, you reach for the switch to lower your window and nothing happens. The switch moves but the window does not budge. Not even a noise from the window motor can be heard which strongly suggests to you that the device is not functioning. You must stop your car and open up the door to pay the attendant before continuing on your trip. Thoughts of an expensive car repair bill are dancing through your head, putting you in a foul mood and tempering the anticipated fun of your getaway weekend. Don’t despair: you can repair the power window yourself and save a bundle over expensive dealership charges. Let’s take a look at the steps you can take to fix the problem yourself and save a lot of cash in the process.
Before assuming that the window regulator must be replaced you should first rule out the possibility of dirty electrical contacts. On most cars the main power for all switches goes through the master switch located at the driver’s console. Sometimes the switch is dirty causing the window to malfunction. If this is the case, take the necessary steps to clean the contact and your problem should be resolved.
Should you determine that the contacts are clean and your switch is functioning, then it is likely that the motor has burned out and is in need of replacing. Whether you are installing a Honda window regulator or a Volkswagen window regulator, or a regulator for any other make the steps involved in replacing a window regulator are usually quite similar:
1. Remove the door panel for the affected window.
2. Locate and remove the bolts holding the regulator to the door; it is likely you will have to manually lower the window in order to access the bolts.
3. Remove the old regulator, disconnect all wiring, and replace the old regulator with a new one you have purchased from a parts supplier. Shop online to find the best value as you will pay a mint if you order one through a dealership.
4. Tighten the bolts holding the new regulator and reinstall the moisture barrier. Make sure all the wires are put back in the door before closing the door panel.
5. Engage the power window switch and the new regulator should work unimpeded.
Of course, follow your car’s repair manual for specific instructions.
I’ve given to you a general outline to convince you that this is a task that even a novice mechanic can handle – in other words: you can do it! By handling the problem yourself, you’ll save plenty of money by avoiding garages who will mark up the replacement part as well as tack on several hours of labor costs to your bill. Shop online to compare prices and to receive the best shipping and handling arrangements available.
