Let’s Hear about Sit and Go
One feature I love about most online poker sites is the plethora of sit and go games that are available. While there are sit and go’s at brick and mortar casinos, and I have played them, it can be boring and frustrating waiting for ten people to sign up.
At an online poker site, it usually takes no more than 5 minutes for a ten person sit and go, and then you’re off. I’m not even sure why I like this style of playing so much; typically you are not getting good return on your investment. If you play a $20 sit and go and come in first, you will typically net only about $70. And if you play brilliantly for 30 minutes, but have one band hand and finish fourth, you get nothing. You are probably better off just sitting down at a regular cash table.
Still, there is something fun about playing a sit and go. There is obviously a different approach and strategy than playing a cash game. Your goal is to outlast people, not necessarily win every hand (though that does help). In that respect, playing sit and go’s does give you good practice for tournaments, where one must be as cagey and clever to win. If you’re playing in a online poker tournament, I would recommend playing a sit and go a day or two before as a good way to practice.
