Mobile Broadband Is Nuts
Is it just me or has the mobile broadband market gone completely insane?
I ask because whereas before getting a decent level of connection to be able to get mobile broadband for my laptop was an issue now it seems like there are hundreds of options, and some of those options just make me wonder how on earth they are making money on deals.
You only have to walk into a shop (ok, computer or mobile related shop, I doubt your local pet shop will be of use) anywhere in the UK and you will see dozens of offers of ‘free broadband’ or a ‘free laptop with broadband‘.
I mean, a free laptop? And these things are top quality products as well, not some cheap piece of kit.
So as far as I can see you get
- Cheap or free broadband
- A mobile broadband dongle
- A free laptop
- The ability to work almost anywhere
- Good download speeds
And yet judging from the amount of companies offering these deals there must be some good money in it. Broadband genie.co.uk has a huge array of packages from different companies. But I get the feeling I am looking a gift horse in the mouth here. Time to get hold of one before someone works out that the companies can’t afford to work like this in the current economy!
