Consumers Continue to Spend on Communication Services According to Ofcom Market Report
Ofcom publishes its Communication Market Report every year in order to evaluate the position of the radio, telecoms, mobile, TV and broadband sectors in the UK. The body has recently released this year’s issue.
The report states that the communications industry is now worth around £52 billion, which depicts the crucial role played by these services in the lives of the people. Despite the difficult economic situation, the communications industry has shown a bit of growth this year. Customers seem to be more amenable to cutting down money spent on going out for eating or holidaying rather than on the bills of telephone and mobile broadband.
The report also talks about the development of the mobile broadband sector and points out that last year, the month of May alone saw an addition of a quarter of a million new mobile broadband contracts. By the first few months of this year, the number of households having mobile broadband connectivity had increased to almost 12 per cent. Among these households, around seventy-five per cent already had fixed line internet connection, which goes to show that mobile broadband is considered supplementary to fixed line internet.
Overall, the people seem to be ready to pay for use of telephone, TV, broadband and mobile broadband in spite of the recession. The market study, however, indicates that consumers are looking for bundled services to help them save some money. A dedicated mobile broadband website would be the ideal place to look for such information for the most up-to-date laptop deals and bundled package offers.
