Green Publishing Offers Environmental Alternative for the Publishing Industry
Statistics indicate that the publishing industry produces about 12.4 million tons of CO2 each year. That translates into approximately 8.85 pounds per book. Most of the gas emissions come as a result of the process of harvesting trees, of which 70% of these trees, by the way, are coming from natural forests rather than from tree farms.Have your ever wondered exactly what the new phrase, “carbon footprint” is describing? According to definition, our carbon footprint is the “total set of greenhouse gas emissions caused both directly and indirectly by an individual, organization, event or product”. These CO2 emissions may wreck havoc with the environment of our planet, and in recent years, much concern has been raised about how to limit them in our activities of daily living. The method of transforming a tree into a book, newspaper, magazine, or advertising flyer has come under scrutiny because of the amount of gas emissions created in the transformation. Green publishing is an effort to reduce the size of the footprint in this process by making conscious choices to conserve virgin wood fibre. When one looks at the entire process of tree to book, there are several aspects to consider. Logging outside of tree farms affects land conditions and wild life environments. Pulp mills must deal with water, energy and pollution issues. Transportation also uses fuel and increases gas emissions, polluting the air further. The printing process incorporates chemicals and uses up natural resources. Finally, there is the waste clogging up the landfills. Success with green publishing can impact all steps as more recycled paper is used requiring less virgin tree fibre from naturally forested trees and resulting in less waste.Since the purpose of green publishing is to lessen the impact of publishing activities both in the community and on the environment, several approaches may be incorporated in this effort. One possibility is to encourage the use of digital books, not as a replacement, but as a supplement to lessen the need for all the hard copies currently being produced. Digital books can be made more appealing with the addition of audio, video, and advertising. This might also reduce the amount of paper advertising that is part of the footprint problem. While green publishing can address one aspect of the carbon emissions dilemma, creating a publishing environment that is willing to spend the extra money to convert to recycling manufacturing is another issue. Changeover will be costly, which in turn will raise the prices of books, at least initially. Since the majority of systems are set up to handle virgin wood fibre, owners may be reluctant to invest in conversion machinery at this time. On the other hand, industry responds to demand, and as public awareness and concern increases, the demand for greener products will perhaps stimulate a positive response. At a fraction of the energy and chemicals, the recycling process could significantly reduce our carbon imprint in this area.
How to Have a Secured Home
Phoenix home inspection service providers are in heavy demand as millions of people move from one home to the other and invest in property across the world. These home inspectors are thus in public demand and are therefore in need of both the home sellers and the home buyers. It has become a good profession these days.
The inspector is important. You need to ensure that you do business with someone reputable. Even if he says he is certified, you should ensure that there’s insurance prepared. Do not be scared to ask questions. If the inspector is haughty or doesn’t want to answer simply, look for another inspector. After all , this is a giant significant purchase. You want the very best folk on your team.
Cave Creek home inspections provide a great avenue for house buyers to try and expose potential problems which will happen during the first year of home ownership, prior to their purchase of the home, but there isn’t any system that can guarantee how long a mechanical item may keep working or when something may break down in a home. Home warranties can help bridge this gap and supply an additional defensive layer for the homebuyer. The purpose of a home guaranty is to provide coverage on properties mechanical items in the event a break down does happen in the first year of home ownership. Home warranties are generally considered service contracts and work very like home owners insurance programmes. The warranty company provides coverage on properties mechanical items, like the furnace, air, appliances and has a set deductible that would apply towards the replacement or repair of those items in the event of a breakdown.
Therefore ensure that you either hire accredited staff or associations. Electrical, mechanical, structural, and even economic engineers could be well suited to the job of examination. If you’re employing the services of a group, sundry specialties might lead to a more effective diagnosis of the issues and potential difficulties you could have in your place. You’ve carefully selected the home you’re purchasing. Check you’re as careful when choosing your home inspector. Don’t get stuck paying for repairs missed by a quick home inspection.
Let Your Business Enterprise Rise to Become Offshore Companies
Offshore Companies can be grouped into diverse types. These types are Limited Guarantee Company, international Business Company, Limited Liability Company, Companies Issuing Shares, Trusts, Partnerships and Protected Shell Companies. Depending on their business pursuits and goals, businesses can select which type they think is most acceptable for them. Different names for Offshore Companies include international Company, Offshore Shelf Company or a Non-Resident Company.
Particular requirements are present and need to be accomplished before Offshore Companies can start working. The 2 most essential are the Memorandum and Articles of Association and Certificate of Incorporation. The Memorandum and Articles of Association demonstrates the rights of the members and the objectives of the company. The Certificate of Incorporation is given by the appropriate administration bureau of the jurisdiction where the business is located.
Laws and policies affecting Offshore Companies differ from nation to nation. Before running the business, these policies should be deliberated extensively.
To count, stock market listing and trading, reduction of tax and payroll, possession of real estate, wealth management, possession of intellectual property, secrecy and global trading are the gains Offshore Companies savour.
Even So, these benefits can only be gained if the appropriate jurisdiction is selected. To thoroughly enjoy these benefits, a complete blend between the pursuits of the business enterprise and the jurisdiction should be discovered. Other jurisdictions are most suitable for professional servicing, holding assets and investments, funding, trading and ship possession and management.
As these jurisdictions vary and must be addressed consequently, experts on these arenas should be consulted before going on. They are in the optimal place to provide advise and counsel in selecting the right jurisdiction that will satisfy business enterprise goals and pursuits. Offshore Companies can exhaustively relish the gains mentioned if this equilibrium is reached.

Getting it Right regarding Cheap Ebook Readers
The endurance of restored laptops has made great strides over recent years, making them a worthwhile — and economical— choice. If you seriously want to go for this, there are a number of options to cut costs but nonetheless purchase all of the devices you’ve been dreaming of. Rest assured that this guide is certain to make life much easier, whether you want laptop offers or cheap ebook readers. Please don’t think that these savings won’t amount to much. Renovated is definitely the way of the future. They’re of equal quality for a lower price. These days you’ll even talk to retailers who’ll grant you an equipment warranty, virtually eliminating all risk on your part. When opening negotiations, ask for mp3 player deals, discount game console offers, sim free cell phone deals, digital camera special offers, etc. We expect you’ll find that when you compare to retailers which offer only brand new items you’ll discover a whole lot more for you to go for. Pay attention to the time of year — believe it or not, this can have a major effect on prices. An obvious period where electronic toys are priced very, very competitively is, of course, the festive season. The smart electronics aficionado checks out the Black Friday sales the day after Thanksgiving to make the most of their money. Technology is superseded, and even if your dream gadget already exists that’s a good thing. Price cuts on existing versions come quickly — excellent news for the consumer. No matter what you want to buy — a Zwee, laptop offers, or digital camera special offers — these present a fantastic opportunity! As there are so many scammers using internet stores to fleece the unaware, you could easily find your money stolen. Hence, always check the reputation of your merchant. Here are a few handy signals to help your money stay safe. Some payment methods you should beware. Exercise caution when dealing with wire transfer only. Tough to trace, simple to do — no surprise it’s risky. A more sophisticated con involves making a fake “verification” site to deceive you, so make sure that the trader’s security seals actually take you where they should.
You can’t dispute that we’re glad to locate electronic goods cheaply. But when you’re looking for sim free cell phone deals and use these tips, you’ll be able to slash that still further.
Effective Motorcycle Security
On the whole, motorcycle owners put more love and care into their machines
than do owners of cars or trucks. That “love and care” directly translates into
hundreds of dollars spent on customizations and maintenance. Sadly, between
30,000 to 50,000 bikes are stolen each year in the United States alone (based on
theft rates from 2000 through 2005). And to think, many of these thefts could have
been prevented with a little common sense and security.
Common Sense This should go without saying, but don’t leave the keys in
the ignition or the motor running when you’re not on the bike! Never leave your
bike in a dimly lit, hard to see location. Put the bike in your locked garage when you
are at home.
Locks and Chains One item every bike owner should purchase is a thick
U-lock or chain that can be easily spotted by anyone, day or night. This is a must-
have, unless its so big that it’s impossible to tote around with you. Simply wrapping
your chain through a wheel and your bike frame is not enough — you have to
mount the bike to a sturdy pole or clamp mounted in concrete. If the bike isn’t
mounted to a stationary object, a thief could just pack up your bike in a truck and
drive away.
Electronic Alarms Most modern bikes (larger than a scooter) have some
form of factory immobilization that prevents casual theft, but such immobilizers
alone won’t stop a determined thief. It’s therefore best to consider an electronic
security system, often called an “alarm.” A good alarm system does more than just
make noise, it has circuitry that prevents false triggers, adds secondary points of
immobilization, and sounds a loud siren only when a threat against your bike is real.
Some have digital tilt sensors, shock sensors and other sensors that trip the system
into action. One excellent electronic alarm from Japan is the CYCLONE 866F:
www.kiramek.com. The Japanese manufacturer of Cyclone also offers a 1-way
paging system that instantly alerts you when a threat occurs. The system is also
claimed to be very low-power, eliminating worry of your battery being drained.
Two-way Paging Alarms Over the last 3 years, some electronic alarms
have begun to include 2-way pagers. These systems allow you to both control the
alarm and receive notification of threats. Unfortunately, battery life for many of
these two-way pagers is limited to about 1 month, and the pagers
themselves can be easily broken by a simple fall from your pants pocket. Two-way
systems also may drain a bike’s battery quickly unless you ride it daily. Even so, for
some people the convenience aspect may outweigh the negatives for some bike
owners.
Tracking Systems As of 2005, some companies have come out with GPS
tracking systems for bikes that allow a stolen bike to be traced. While tracking
systems do have merits over other types of security, there are three important
downsides that must be considered: (1) battery drain on the bike, (2) service area
(tracking) coverage, and (3) monthly cost.
Most tracking systems require you to pay not only for the product itself but also
each and every month to keep the “service contract” alive. The long term cost of
tracking systems may leave a bad taste in the mouth of the average bike owner.
Think about how much you already pay per month (phone bill, mobile phone,
internet, etc.) and you can see why tacking on another subscription is cost
prohibitive.
LoJack is one tracking system manufacturer who does not charge any monthly fees,
but their least expensive bike system runs $595 and traceability is limited to the
coverage area of wireless towers installed by LoJack and some police stations. Once
your LoJack “protected” vehicle exits the coverage area, its off the map and not
traceable. Of course, LoJack will refund the price of the product, but that refund
doesn’t replace your bike. Nor does that refund cover any special installation fees
you might have paid or any insurance deductible you might have.
Conclusion Use a layered approach to security. Common sense dictates
that you put your bike in a location that is not an obvious target for thieves. You’ll
then need a chain or U-lock to prevent casual theft. And lastly, even if your bike
has a factory immobilizer, the addition of an electronic alarm or tracking system will
act as a significant deterrent to theft.

Amos And Social Justice Part 1
Amos was a shepherd who lived in the region of Tekoa, not many miles from the city of Jerusalem. He earned his living by raising sheep and taking care of sycamore trees. He was not a prophet, son of a prophet or priest. He was an ordinary man chosen by God for a specific purpose: to prophesy to Israel. God called him, shepherd’s staff in hand, and sent him forth to warn his straying people.
Amos’ message was to an age of unprecedented post-war prosperity in the middle of the 18th century. Materialism had become the order of the day. Politically, the kingdom was secure. Samaria, its capital, was considered impregnable. Under Jeroboam II, Israel enjoyed a remarkable cultural, social, and economic revival. It was the last glorious period in the history of the kingdom of Israel. The hopes and expectations of the people were lifted to the highest heights. They looked forward with great anticipation to even greater success and declared a great “Day of the Lord” when God Himself would take the battlefield against their antagonists.
It was also a time of fervent patriotism. Everyone seemed unanimous in the conviction that God had at long last begun to fulfill His ancient promises to the nation (Genesis 9:25-27). Such was the climate into which, without warning, was catapulted the dynamic personality of Amos.
The prosperity enjoyed by the Northern Kingdom was accompanied by an almost unparalleled degree of social corruption which was caused primarily by the demoralizing influence of Canaanite Baal-worship which Jeroboam II developed at the local shrines.
The effect of this degenerating influence upon Hebrew society began to be felt in the corruption of justice, in willful and luxurious living of the upper classes, and in the general decay of social unity. The wealthy exhibited no responsibility towards the poor, and instead of relieving their economic distress, the rich seemed hell-bent upon depriving their less fortunate counterparts of all their property. Within a short period of time, the nation whose strength had subsisted in the mass of its independent citizens was divided into the dissolute rich and the oppressed poor. In just a few short years the poor had been reduced further to the level of serfs, and when circumstances dictated, they were frequently sold into bondage by their masters for trivial considerations. The virtual disappearance of the middle class marked a turning point in the stability of Israel’s life.
The impending downfall and utter collapse of the Northern Kingdom is the predominant theme of the book of Amos. The basis for his prophecy is the injustice and immorality expressed in the political, economic, and religious life of the nation. It was Amos’ conviction that Yahweh is a God of justice and His power over the nations of the earth is evidenced by the fact that transgression of the principles of justice and social righteousness will inevitably be followed by utter ruin and decay.

“Song of the Great Zimbabwe,” and “Silver and Inca Blood” [Poems and notes]
“Song of the Great Zimbabwe”
Across the African, winter’s sky
In the Southern edge of Zimbabwe
Looking down from the Hill Complex
From on top, of an Ancient Rock
O’er the mountains steep:
A, vista I’ve longed to see, resides
A site, I’ve longed to meet;
Thus, dwells, within this African Valley,
Among the greatest of man’s feats…
The great, Great Zimbabwe (Enclosure).
A million-stones, built these ancient walls
Some twelve-fathoms, fathoms high
That seems to reach unto the sky;
Some say: a fortress, and palace, it is;
And perhaps, the legendary ‘Ophir!’

Silver and Inca Blood
In the Great Silver mines of Potosi
(Inca Indians)
Conscripted mine workers
Carry
Quotas of oreup hundreds of feet
Of rope laddered-steps
For don Francisco de Toledo
And
King Philip II, of Spain;
A farcified vision to become
Richoff Inca blood,
In the year1571…

Notes: (The Inca Empire): the assumption is often that the Inca Empire was a large enterprise of its self; a common mistake at best; complicated for sure; but for the most part, the Inca Empire was comprised of ethnic groups who were subjugated into the Inca Empire, similar to the Roman, which was a city nation [Empire] you might say, who subjugated the whole world into its Roman Empire; likewise, so did the Incas of South America. Thus, by treaties or threats of war, the Inca Empire grew with subgroups to a mighty Empire.

Learn English/Spanish to Expand Your Horizons
Spanish is quickly becoming the second language of the United States. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are over 40 million Americans of Hispanic origins, which include people with Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Central American, and South American origins. In addition, there are over 47 million Americans who speak a language other than English at home. Of these, slightly over 28 million speak Spanish. This represents a 62 percent increase since 1990. Although slightly over half of the people who speak Spanish at home also speak English very well, there are 12.6 million Spanish speakers who do not speak English well. This trend is expected to continue its upward rise, which means that it behooves both native English speakers and native Spanish speakers to learn English/Spanish.
There are a number of reasons why it’s a good idea to learn English/Spanish. If you are a native English speaker who does not know Spanish, there’s a good chance that you will encounter people who do not speak English while you are at work or in your community. This is especially true if you live in Texas, California, or Florida, where the numbers of Spanish speaking citizens are the highest. If you are a business owner – even if you have a home business – you may be losing income if you do not speak Spanish or have Spanish-speaking employees. The population of people who speak only Spanish represent a sizeable segment of the consumer market, and it only makes sense that they will seek out businesses that understand their needs and can speak their language.
Conversely, if you are a native Spanish speaker who does not know English, it may be difficult to navigate the English-centric service industry that exists in the United States. If you decide to learn English/Spanish, you’ll be better able to meet your needs and the needs of your family. Almost certainly, a greater number of career opportunities will be open to you, and if you are a business owner – even if you have a home business – you’ll open up your customer base to customers who speak only English.
Although it may be daunting to think about learning a second language, there are opportunities to learn English/Spanish in a variety of learning styles. You can choose to go the traditional route of taking a language class or buying tapes or CDs, or you can take advantage of newer techniques in order to learn English/Spanish. For example, there is English/Spanish software that offers language lessons using both pictures and speech. In essence, you can see two people interacting, with each work spoken in English, then in Spanish. This software allows you to go at your own pace, and can be configured to teach Spanish to English speakers or English to Spanish speakers.
Learning Spanish or English will not only broaden your horizons, but will most likely increase your earning potential, whether you have a traditional job or a home business.

Honeypots
A honeypot is a special computer system set up for the specific purpose of attracting hackers. Generally, these servers will be placed inside a firewall (although they might be outside) and contain specific, known vulnerabilities which allow hackers to gain access. Once inside, a good honeypot contains an immense amount of seemingly attractive targets and information to attempt to cause the hacker to spend time on the system. While the hacker is spending this time, he is being carefully observed and traced.
There are several reasons for creating honeypots.
- They are often simply a way to get hackers to expend time and energy on non-production systems. Because it appears to the hacker that he’s on a “real” system, there’s a good likelihood that he may just stop looking around the rest of the network. In other words he’s already got what he came for.
- A honeypot is a great way to test security. Let’s say you produced a new security product and you want to see if it’s solid. You could set up a honeypot behind this product, the “leak” it’s existence to some hackers. Now sit back and see if they get through your defenses.
- Another reason for a honeypot is to attempt to get a hacker to stay long enough so that you can identify him.
- As the hacker works his way through the honeypot system, he will leave traces and his movements will be tracked. This can all be saved for use in criminal trials at a later date.
In my experience, a honeypot is an extremely useful part of security management. What I’ve seen others do is simple. Recycle some older computers, not really useful for production anymore, and install some “cool” applications and documents. Add some reasonable security with a few known holes, and make sure the system makes itself known on the network.
If you’ve got the time and money, I’ve found it’s best to set up the honeypot in it’s own DMZ. A DMZ is a way to protect a network. You set up one firewall, then your web servers, then another firewall to protect your application servers. You do this because the web servers need more exposure to the internet than your application servers. Also, the application servers are much more expensive and critical and thus deserve more protection.
So what you do with the honeypots is set up a third DMZ and add one or more honeypot systems to them. Thus, you might put a firewall, a honeypot, another firewall, your web servers, another firewall and then your application servers. You can also just leave the honeypots right on the internet if you want, although that tends to make them too easy of a target.
And then you just let them sit there and attract hackers. Oh yes, you have to be sure to keep extensive records of everything that happens on these systems, just in case you need it later.
