Tennis League Network runs the first ever Flex League National tourney

Waltham, MA- The first yearly National tourney of the Tennis League Network (TLN), which manages local web based tennis communities in 34 US cities, was a overwhelming success, says TLN CEO Steve Chagnan. Held Nov. 6-8 at Crandon Tennis Center in Miami, FL, The event, played on hard courts, attracted 31 players of all skill levels– all of them champions in their respective local TLN seasons.

“This was an absolute delight to run as the players were all about getting out on the courts and playing some high-pressure tennis” said Steve Chagnan, TLN CEO. The majority of the players who attended won their respective tournaments to get the right to take part in the National tourney.

The individual cities leagues under the TLN network of city leagues serve to connect local, dedicated tennis participants who want to play a lot of tennis. We make sure that tennis participants are attached with closely-matched tennis partners. Matches are played predominantly on public courts. It has been a highly successful format, Chagnan said. Since 2006, there have been more than 42,700 tennis matches played; 2009 saw a 51% increase.

TLN was inspired to create this USA tourney as the complete conclusion for all the players who have won tournaments in their individual cities, said Chagnan. The 32 players corresponded most major cities, including Miami, Boston, DC, Chicago, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Denver, Orange County, LA and Philadelphia. tennis participants were categorized in mini-divisions of 5 players, and played in a round-robin using a 10 pro set format (First to win10 games). The top 2 players from each mini-division advanced onto a single elimination tourney with other same skill-level mini-division qualifiers.

Enrollment starts in early January for the 2010 spring season for Tennis League Networks 33 web based communities, which are dedicated to bringing together local tennis tennis participants of every level — from beginners to advanced– who desire to play a lot of singles tennis matches and make new tennis friends. We make sure that both men and women are associated with tennis partners of similar skill levels, says Chagnan.
